Hi Everyone,
We sometimes get the question:
Why Isn’t MarketMeTweet Free?
It’s something we’ve thought about a lot, so I wanted to lay out for you why we came to the conclusion that:
MarketMeTweet is not, and has no immediate plans to be Free.
Some of this may sound blunt, so you have been warned
Support
In our research of ‘free’ apps we’ve found that 98% of support requests come from people who are merely trying the application. We’re not a huge company, so this eats up a tremendous amount of resources and makes it so we have less time to focus on our paying customers. When a customer pays we want to make sure we provide the highest level of service and the quickest response time. Having loads of freebie people bogging us down doesn’t add the the user experience, it detracts. We’ve also found that people who are willing to pay for something are willing to take the tool seriously and often require less support. This isn’t us being lazy, but we want to spend as much time as possible making the app better, not spending long hours dealing with people who are too lazy to follow support tutorials, because after all, they just downloaded it for free and don’t care a whole lot. When someone takes out their wallet and buys, they have committed to taking the set up process and the app seriously, and get the most benefits.
Business Application
Although some people do use MarketMeTweet for personal use, it’s primarily a Business Application. This means real businesses with real needs. We have decked out this application to suit the business person and a good business knows and wants to invest in something that can ultimately increase business and pay for itself. There’s definitely free options out there if you’re only using a Twitter Manager for personal use, or even if you’re a very small business. However, when you move into the type of power networking you require for business, we have no problem charging a small fee for it. And businesses have no problem paying it. And of course, we give the brand back to the business. Every free tool takes the real estate under tweets for themselves, essentially funding it by advertising on the back of your tweet. We let businesses have their own brand, and don’t steal the spotlight.
Server Space
At the time of writing this post, MarketMeTweet makes over 5,000,000 requests per month, and uses over 400gb bandwidth. This is not free to maintain and part of the fee covers this.
Guarantee
While we’re not free, we do think that people have a right to test a product, so we do offer a money back guarantee for the first 30 days of using MarketMeTweet. This is the right thing to do and we always honor refund requests in this period, although we rarely get any requests!
Updates/ Development
We are constantly updating and supporting this app. We never charge more for more features, so once license covers all updates. And ask our users, we update regularly. Of course, to keep these updates coming we do have to pay our team, as they have grown rather fond of eating and paying their rent / mortgages. And we never outsource. Our app work is all done in house in our office in Norfolk, England.
Exclusive
We consider MarketMeTweet to be an Ethical Social Media tool and do no tolerate spam. By making it exclusive we really can vet the serious users from the people looking to just mess with the Social Media Ecosystem. Essentially, we’re not fussed about getting 1 million users on MarketMeTweet, we’d rather have 30,000 premier users who we treat like kings and queens, and who use our tool with integrity.
Some may read this and want to hang up the proverbial phone on us, but you’re not our target
. If you read this and thought “hey, I get it, and what’s more, I want it!” then please head on over to our pricing page to find out how you can join the hundreds everyday who are becoming one of our elite users!

Well put! I’m glad I purchased it (I’ve had it awhile.) I admit that in the beginning I was less than ecstatic about it but once you put out word that release 2.0 would include a lot of new features similar to some of the free products, I held on. Now, I’m waiting for the iPhone app because I can’t stand tweeting without my marketing attached! Selfish? If it’s something I feel can’t wait I’ll tweet from my iPhone but otherwise, it waits until I get to my desktop.
Hmm I feel like I might have caused this post a little…
I’d like to point out that my argument was over a free trial so I could play with the app rather than fork out on something I’ve not had any experience with than actually getting it for free forever.
My tweet that mentioned the number of free apps was to make the point that people will stick with free unless they can try a paid replacement for free. I don’t think I’m alone in that approach and I think you are hanging up on lots of people.
I disagree that a money back guarantee is the right thing to do. It’s nice to have but I’d rather try it then give you my cash. Easier for me and easier for you I’d have thought.
The lack of free trial is a nail in your coffin for me (even though the app looks great)
Hi Adam, you may have helped inspire it but always happy to hear other people’s opinions. I just thought it was time we wrote our vision and reasons for keeping our app a bit more exclusive
Thanks so much for taking the time to comment! Healthy argument is awesome and is what makes blogging so fun!
Also, have you considered checking out our tour and video at http://www.marketmetweet.com ?

Hey Roberta! Thanks for the kind words. We are working on something for the iphone so sit tight
~Tammy
Hey Roberta, i am the guy making the iphone app.
Any features you would like in it? stuff that other iphone apps lack?
Exclusive.. now I don’t feel good enough to use it
Only joking.. I may relent one day (although I did a little bit read into your exclusive comment that because I wanted to trial it first I’m not good enough for your company.. but only a little bit!)
I appreciate and whole heartedly accept having a fully paid app
Yep I’ve done the tour, watched the video.. but it’s not the same as using it :p
Lderan – although I may/may not be using it please make the RT an option – classic or new style – drives me insane that some don’t!
And I’d just add that on your pricing page the yearly price has two arrows from 30 day money back guarantee to a message saying “limited time offer”. It looks like the money back guarantee is limited – don’t know if that’s the case or the (very good) yearly price is limited?
Adam, I like you. You might be my favorite Non-User. But one day you will join us. Muhahaha! (evil laugh)
lol
Now I can’t sign up.. as a non user who likes the look of your product I am a favourite.. if I sign up I might fall into the masses and never be noticed
Anyway… back to blog reply topic (sorry for taking it off track a little!)
Sign up where?
OH duh i just got that.
No we love our customers. Treat them awesome!
