Market Me Tweet Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some FAQs for Market Me Tweet:

Q: What does API limit mean?

A: This is the amount of communication the application can have with twitter per hour. If you’re using the application a lot it uses up more API but don’t worry, it resets every hour and it’s unlikely you’d ever exceed it.

Q: Does MarketMeTweet Voilate the Twitter Terms of Service?

A: No, we have spoken extensively with Twitter, and it does not break any rules. However, your own application you create USING MarketMeTweet must comply with all Twitter rules and regulations. For example, you could not create a landing page for your brand that is an affiliate link. Twitter has the final say and could decide for whatever reason to not allow your application to be created. We suggest that you keep your name/landing page similar. A good application name would be “Yoursite.com” that points to “Yoursite.com.” Please do not use TweetBrand to send to a sales page. It’s not a good practice.

Q: My app I created for my brand says inactive, why?
A: Although we give you the means to basically create your own application, we do not guarantee that it will work. Twitter may disallow your application and mark it as ‘inactive’ if they do not like the name or landing page. We suggest that you name the application as your twitter user name and have the landing page as your website.

Twitter Gave us this Advice:

“There are a couple reasons an application could go inactive, ranging from user reports of spam coming from the app, to the app posting other content not allowed by Twitter, or finally the user account that owns the app being suspended for spammy behavior. If your clients cannot log into Twitter at all, it may be the latter reason and they are advised to file a ticket at http://help.twitter.com/tickets/new . Otherwise, they can continue writing to api@twitter.com and our team will be happy to assist them. We’re usually quick to respond, and if there are cases where suspended users write into api@ , they are re-routed to general Twitter support, which may cause a delay.

Thanks,
Brian

A: We apologize for this but for some reason this seems to occur if you are in Canada, so break out the translator ;)

Q: Will it ever bring up someone on my reply campaign that I have already replied to using the tool?

A: No, It will not bring up the same person twice. Keep on top of your replies with the conversation feature to make sure you get the most out of the tool :)

A: It will still tweet at the scheduled time even if you don’t have the application open so don’t worry!

Reply Campaign Best Practices

When doing a reply campaign you’ll want to really put the time in for the best results. You only have to spend the time to get it set up initially, then you can get SUPER results over and over again. Here’s a few tips for getting the most out of starting conversations.

Make at LEAST 10 reply templates for each keyword. Even more is better.

We find the best way to engage users in conversation is by phrasing things as a question.

Say the keyword is ‘antiques.’  You can say: “I see you tweeted about antiques, what type do you collect?” or “Do you know of any good antique auctions?”

Remember, the more you put into it the more you get out of it.

Check the tweets before replying.

This is important. When you click “run” a bunch of tweets will show up. You really want to read through these before clicking reply so you know your responses will make sense. If you start seeing tweets that don’t pertain to your keyword, start using negative keywords.

Use Negative Keywords:

This is a very powerful tool you have at your disposal, so make sure to utilize it! If you are seeing tweets filter through that don’t make sense for your campaign, start putting words in that will make the filter stronger. For example, if my keyword is “antiques” a negative keyword I may want to filter out is “hate” so I don’t get any tweets that say “I hate antiques.” Keep working with this tool. As you see more and more tweets you will be able to hone the results :)

Following these steps will improve your results DRAMATICALLY! You’ll be shocked at how simply starting a conversation can help you gain followers that are turned into CUSTOMERS.

See this cute video we made back when we were beta testing about how twitter is like fishing, and how using this tool helps you catch the right fish. We say “sign up for the beta test” which you can obviously ignore ;)

How to Thread your Conversations

See screen shot below:

It’s important to note that threading works in the past. So if Person X replies to Person Y, you will see the first tweet. If Person Y then replies back  Person X that is a ‘future’ tweet and the original tweet won’t thread it. But when Person X then replies back one more time, you’d see all 3 tweets by clicking on ‘thread’ on the new reply.

How to use the Branding Feature

Here is how you set up brands!

**note, we say to put the description as “application for my business…” But a few people have said that turns out to be too short so just add Application for my business, yourbusinessname.

Remember, you also have to add your twitter account.  Then you can simply pick which twitter account goes with which brand, like below:

Q: It says my brand is already used?

A: If you’ve set up your brand with tweetbrand, then just go into twitter.com/apps to paste in your consumer key and secret.
